Is there a maximum and minimum length that a domain name can be?
The minimum amount of fields is 1; there is no maximum although most domain names are ten to twenty-five fields long. Each domain name is separated by a period called a “dot”. The right side of the “dot” is called the “top level domain.” Popular top level domains include .com, .net, .org etc. The information to the left of the dot is called the “second-level domain”. “Redshift” is the second level domain and the “.com” is the top-level domain.
